About SJCWG

Connected struggles, collective justice.

Our Mission & Vision

To strengthen democracy, protect freedoms, sovereignty and fight for social justice through a vibrant grass root movement.

Our Focus Areas

Right to Life

Every person deserves safety, dignity, and the chance to live free from harm.

Strong communities begin with supporting the mental, physical, and emotional health of every individual.

Creative expression and play become powerful tools for healing, unity, and social change.

We’re working to protect survivors, challenge harmful norms, and push for real accountability.

Community-led research helps expose injustices and shape solutions that reflect people’s real experiences.

Women lead the fight for fairness here, offering support, advocacy, and a strong voice for equality.

Everyone deserves access to basic needs like housing, food, healthcare, and education, no matter their background.

This network brings together mothers who turn their grief into strength, solidarity, and collective action.

Who We Are

The Social Justice Centres Working Group (SJCWG) is a consortium of community-based organizations collectively known as Social Justice Centres.

Established in the wake of the historic Saba Saba “March for Our Lives” on July 7, 2018, SJCWG emerged to connect and amplify the shared struggles of communities across the country. What began as a moment of collective resistance has grown into a coordinated movement rooted in solidarity, accountability, and people-powered change.

Through collaboration, organizing, and advocacy, we work to strengthen grassroots efforts and advance social, economic, and political justice for all.

Today, the Social Justice Centres Working Group brings together over 90 Social Justice Centres across more than 20 counties in Kenya and beyond.

Through this growing network, SJCWG leads grassroots advocacy against human rights violations, amplifies community voices, and strengthens collective action at both local and national levels.
