IN MEMORIAM: MAMA VICTOR – A CHAMPION OF JUSTICE AND HUMAN RIGHTS
With heavy hearts, the social justice movement mourns the passing of Mama Victor, a dedicated advocate for human rights and a pillar in the fight against injustice. Mama Victor, who tragically lost her two sons to extra-judicial executions, channeled her pain into a relentless pursuit of justice, standing against police abuse of power and advocating for victims and survivors of such atrocities.
Her unwavering commitment led her to form and lead a network known as the “Mother of Victims and Survivors of Extrajudicial Execution Network,” where she offered solace, support, and a voice to those who had suffered similar losses.
Today, we received the devastating news that Mama Victor’s life was claimed by the ongoing floods, her body discovered amidst the rubble of her collapsed home in Mathare 4A. As we grieve her loss, our thoughts are also with her missing son and granddaughter, presumed to be trapped beneath the debris.
In this time of sorrow, we call upon the community to stand in solidarity with Mama Victor’s family and the social justice movement. Let us honor her legacy by continuing the fight for a world free from injustice and oppression.
May Mama Victor’s soul find eternal peace, and may her dedication to justice inspire us all.
Further information will be shared in due course.
