Today, Kariobangi Social Justice Centre, in collaboration with the local administration and security agencies, convened a security stakeholdersβ meeting with bodaboda operators from Kariobangi North to discuss growing security concerns affecting the community.
The meeting brought together Kariobangi North Station OCS Mr. Syad Hassan, Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) Mr. Joshua, Chief Orina, Assistant Chiefs Angelina and Kadhiaka, bodaboda operators, and other relevant stakeholders.
Discussions focused on increasing concerns over phone snatching, mugging, and other criminal activities, including allegations of involvement by some individuals operating within the bodaboda sector. Stakeholders emphasised the need to address these concerns through coordinated action, accountability, constructive engagement, and strengthened cooperation between residents, security agencies, and bodaboda operators.

The meeting provided an important platform for identifying challenges contributing to insecurity and exploring practical measures to improve public safety. It also underscored the importance of distinguishing between individuals implicated in criminal activities and the wider bodaboda community, whose livelihoods and contributions to local transport remain important.
Kariobangi Social Justice Centre reaffirmed the importance of community-centred approaches to security that promote accountability, protect residentsβ rights, strengthen trust between communities and law enforcement, and ensure that everyone can live and work in a safe environment.
Community safety is a collective responsibility. Through dialogue, cooperation, and respect for the rule of law, stakeholders can help build a safer Kariobangi North for all.
