What We Do
Championing justice with communities at the front line.
Our work is shaped by the everyday realities of the communities we serve.
Through advocacy, community organizing, research and sustained support networks, we stand with people facing injustice and push for systems that protect their rights, dignity and wellbeing.
Right to Life
We uphold and defend the right to life as enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya, a fundamental and inalienable right for every person. This commitment means challenging all forms of violence, unlawful killings, and systemic injustices that threaten human life, while demanding accountability, protection, and respect for human dignity in all spaces.
Wellness
Wellness for Human Rights Defenders is not a luxury; it is a necessity. Sustaining the fight for justice begins with protecting the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of those on the frontlines. When HRDs are well, movements are stronger, communities are safer, and justice becomes more sustainable.
Arts and Sports for Social Justice
We embrace arts and sports as powerful tools for social justice, expression, and community transformation. Through creativity and play, we amplify voices, challenge injustice, and build solidarity, especially among young people. Arts and sports become spaces for healing, awareness, and collective action toward a more just and equitable society.
Gender Based Violence Campaign
We stand in solidarity against Gender-Based Violence, amplifying voices of survivors and challenging the systems and norms that enable harm. Through advocacy, community action, and accountability, we work to create safe spaces where dignity, equality, and justice are not just ideals—but lived realities for all.
Research Pillar
We advance the research pillar of social justice by generating evidence that exposes inequalities, informs advocacy, and strengthens community-led action. Through documentation, data, and lived experiences, we turn knowledge into power—ensuring that struggles are not only seen and heard, but also translated into meaningful change and accountability.
Women in Justice Centre
Women in social justice centres are at the heart of community transformation, leading advocacy, organizing movements, and defending human rights at the grassroots. They challenge inequality, amplify marginalized voices, and drive action on issues such as gender-based violence, economic justice, and access to essential services. Their leadership strengthens communities and anchors the struggle for dignity, equality, and justice for all.
Article 43
We advocate for the full realization of socio-economic rights under Article 43 of the Constitution of Kenya, including the right to health, education, water, food, social security, and especially access to land and adequate housing. Our work focuses on turning these rights into reality by holding duty bearers accountable and empowering communities to claim what is rightfully theirs with dignity and justice.
Mothers of Victims and Survivors’ Network
Mothers of victims and survivors form powerful networks of justice seekers, united by the loss of loved ones killed by police. Through shared grief and resilience, they transform personal pain into collective advocacy, demanding accountability, justice, and an end to unlawful killings. Their voices keep memory alive, challenge impunity, and strengthen the call for a society where every life is protected and valued.
Our Impact
Our work spans multiple efforts, including a key foundational campaign focused on documenting extrajudicial killings.
