Who We Are
The Social Justice Centers Movement is a national network uniting grassroots community justice centres from across the country. Born out of the Saba Saba March for Our Lives on July 7, 2018, the movement began by linking the struggles of communities in Nairobi’s informal settlements as well as those in Kisumu, Vihiga, Kakamega, Busia, Kilifi and Mombasa. It has since expanded to include peri-urban and rural areas, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds.
Today, the movement comprises 80 social justice centres across 20 counties in Kenya, along with 12 partner centres in Uganda.
Our work focuses on advancing social justice by addressing poverty, exclusion, gender inequality, unemployment, human rights violations, access to justice and essential social protections.
