In memoriam: Mama Victor – a champion of justice and human rights

With heavy hearts, the Social Justice Movement mourns the passing of Mama Victor, a tireless advocate for human rights and a steadfast pillar in the fight against injustice. Having tragically lost her two sons to extrajudicial executions, Mama Victor transformed her grief into action, courageously standing against police abuse of power and advocating for victims and survivors of such atrocities.

Her unwavering dedication led her to establish and lead the “Mother of Victims and Survivors of Extrajudicial Execution Network,” offering solace, support, and a voice to countless families who had endured similar losses.

Today, we are devastated to learn that Mama Victor’s life was claimed by the ongoing floods, her body discovered amidst the rubble of her collapsed home in Mathare 4A. Our thoughts also remain with her missing son and granddaughter, who are presumed trapped beneath the debris.

In this time of profound sorrow, we call on the community to stand in solidarity with Mama Victor’s family and with the Social Justice Movement. We honor her legacy by continuing the fight for a world free from injustice and oppression.

May Mama Victor’s soul rest in eternal peace, and may her dedication to justice continue to inspire us all.

Further information will be shared in due course.
