Wilfred Olal Of the Social Justice Movement and Mwandawiro Mghanga Lead the Country In Celebrating The Thirtieth Anniversary Of Jaramogi Odinga Oginga
On January 20th, 2024, Wilfred Olal of the Social Justice Movement and Mwandawiro Mghanga led the nation in commemorating the thirtieth anniversary of Jaramogi Odinga Oginga. Comrade Olal and Ndugu Mwandawiro Mghanga spearheaded the celebrations, bringing together the brigades of the Social Justice Movement and The Communist Party of Kenya to honor the revolutionary life and contributions of Mzee Jaramogi in safeguarding democratic principles in Kenya.
During the event, speaker after speaker paid tribute to Jaramogi as a selfless and honest man who dedicated himself to the first and second liberation movements in the country, nurturing numerous young cadres who continued his legacy in the pursuit of democracy.
Comrade Olal, in his address, emphasized that much of the nation’s history had been distorted by colonial and neo-colonial influences, stressing the responsibility of the youth and progressives to rewrite and preserve the true history of Kenya.
Expressing concern about the current state of the country, Comrade Olal warned that the nation was not in a favorable condition, emphasizing that the ignorance of the population could lead to a regression towards dictatorship, akin to the Nyayo era.
Jeremiah Kioni commended the organizers for choosing a venue that, in the past, would have been risky for progressives to hold meetings without fearing police backlash. He recalled the challenges faced by many progressives who used to be arrested at Professional Centre in the past.
The event gained widespread attention on social media under the hashtag #NotYetUhuru, with Kenyans following the revolutionary proceedings.
Notable figures present at the celebration included Wilfred Olal, Mwandawiro Mghanga, Benedict Wachira, Professor Ngotho Kariuki, Jeremiah Kioni and others.
