Billy convenes the GBV committee at SJCWG. Having expertise in Gender and Development, He coordinates referrals with gender desk officers at Social Justice Centre that ensures GBV survivors are provided with timely, effective, and appropriate support. His expertise areas include designing and implementing comprehensive GBV responses with NGOs, CBOs, and governments in informal and rural settlements. He managed a national comprehensive GBV response program on “Prevention and Response to GBV.” This program received funding support from the Royal Norwegian Embassy and was successfully implemented. In addition, he’s one of the coordinators of the “Mulika Wabakaji Campaign”, a national campaign that brings together more than 25 key NGOs working on GBV, to increase conviction rates.
He also litigates on environmental issues that affect the health of the public, especially women who live near the biggest dumpsite in East Africa, the Dandora dumpsite. He has coordinated research and contributed to several publications on the environment and gender rights. His work has highlighted the importance of preserving the environment and protecting the rights of women in marginalized communities. He explores the link between environmental degradation and gender rights violations, as well as the need for sustainable solutions to tackle climate change. He was third place in the UN-Habitat Climathon Challenge in 2019, and he demonstrated his commitment to finding innovative solutions to climate change that are socially and environmentally sustainable.
